A plane carrying 65 Ukrainian Prisoners of war has crashed on the border of Ukraine and Russia. All passengers (74) on the plane were killed with Russia blaming Ukraine for shooting down the plane. The U.S. has said that it is not clear if any prisoners of war were onboard the plane. (AP)
The United Nations (UN) has stated that Israeli tanks struck a UN compound that was sheltering displaced Palestinians from the war in the Gaza Strip. Nine people have been killed and 75 have been wounded in the attacks with more deaths expected. (Reuters)

January 25th
UN’s top court rules on Israel in its war on Gaza and whether to stop the military action that is plaguing all that live in the Gaza Strip. Though the court would not enforce this ruling it would be politically significant. (BBC)
Israel has vowed to fight Hamas all the way to Gaza’s southernmost border with Egypt. This has brought about a sharp warning from Egypt who do not want Israeli troops in the Salaheddin Corridor. (AP)

The U.S. has approved a $23bn F-16 fighter jet sale to Turkey following the country’s decision to ratify Sweden into NATO. Furthermore, the U.S. has also agreed on a deal worth $8.6bn to Greece for 40 F-35s. (AP)
January 28th
Three American soldiers have been killed and 34 injured from a drone attack on a U.S. base in Jordan. The attack was carried out by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq militants. (BBC News)
Once again HMS Diamond has used its missiles to defend itself from an attack by the Iran-backed group Houthis announced The Ministry of Defence. This marks the third time the ship has had to repel an attack from the group. (BBC News)
